Website, Blog or Both?

What are Websites and Blogs?

Classic Web Page

Blog Page

Both are actually web pages.

Both are collections of files that include content to display and directions on how to display it. The main difference is in what they’re used for and how they’re put together. Web pages are more brochure or display –like. They include specific directions on where and how to display specific things.

Blogs are a specialized sort of website intended to make it easier for people with no knowledge of the technology to communicate on the web. They tend to be focused on displaying text and making it easy to post for both the bloggers and for persons wishing to comment.  Web sites take a fair amount of work to set up. Blogs take almost none. And putting new content on a blog is as easy as logging in and typing your message into the box.

A website is generally a more static presence on the web. It’s a display and is important for an author trying to sell books. Blogs are intended to facilitate communication and discussion rather than presentation of anything in particular.
